When it comes to Urban planning, it is interesting to read about how urban growth was managed and how the government at the time controlled urban development. Through reading Fischlers article, the main notion I obtained was that the dominant norms of urban planning were those of the middle-class, and the circulation of a middle-class standard of living.
Below are a few key points I took out of reading the article involving the theses on urban planners:
- Urban planners have a sound knowledge of the City they are focused on and must cater for the community's best interests.
- They play a number of pivotal roles
- They look for plans in the future, meaning not everything is short term
